Finding Aid ~ Part 1 of 2 for the Telgmann Collection
ACCESSION NUMBER 1998.26.1 to 1998.26.16
TELGMANN COLLECTION FINDING AID
For a two year period ending in the spring of 2000 Mr. Donald
Smithies worked as a volunteer cataloguing this collection. His
dedication and the quality of his work is sincerely appreciated.
NOTE: This file box contains file folders and loose items
from museum records maintained by the late Jack Telgmann during
his tour as curator of the Pump House Steam Museum, from about 1972 to
1984. The museum was operated during this period by the City of
Kingston through a group known as the Frontenac Society of Model
Engineers, which supplied much of the volunteer staff in the 1970s.
Most items relate to the programs and events of the museum, which
included the participation of the Steam Launch "Phoebe" in
water events. These water events became a succession of annual steam
launch flotillas and races, organized by Jack and based on a race
sponsored by the Kingston Whig Standard in the early 1970s.
We use a standard inventory control numbering system, usually
called an accession number. When you find what you are looking for
note the accession number so the material can be found.
So what do the numbers mean?
998.26.8.7 - 1998 is the year of the accession. 26 is the 26th
collection that was acquired during 1998. The 8 is either the box or
file folder in which the item can be found. And most unusual, the 7
represents the actual item. It is very seldom that we are able to
catalogue at an item level - this due entirely to the hard work of Mr.
Smithies.
What follows is an Index of File folders for
Part 1 of 2 - the details of each folder for Part 1 can be found on
this page. The details of each folder for Part 2 can be found on the
Telgmann Two Finding Aid Page. This link will take you back
to the Telgmann Index.
What follows are the Details of Each Folder for
Accession numbers that run from 1998.26.1 to 1998.26.16
